The PROAOA Executive is elected at the AGM, and includes outdoor professionals with a history in the organization, and a strong belief in promoting a high standard of safety and operations in the river outfitter industry.
What is PROAOA?
Provincial associations, such as PROAOA, play a vital role in maintaining industry standards. Recognized by Transport Canada, PROAOA provides a model of industry standards that commercial operators would be expected to follow.

In adhering to our standards, PROAOA membership ensures that member companies are providing tours meeting the following criteria:
Conducted by responsible and qualified guides.
Industry-standard safety equipment and information is provided to all participants.
Operating practices of the company meet or exceed industry standards.
Professional River Outfitters Association of Alberta
Established in 1980 to be a common voice on behalf of commercial river outfitters in discussions with government and other agencies; to promote a high standard of safety and operations in the river outfitter industry; and to provide safety and regulation guidelines for commercial river operators within the province of Alberta.
