What is PROAOA?
Provincial associations, such as PROAOA, play a vital role in maintaining industry standards. Formally recognized by Transport Canada, PROAOA provides guide certification and safety standards for commercial river operators in Alberta.
PROAOA is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our members, customers, employees as well as every Canadian in the communities where we live, work and play. To best prepare our members, the Professional River Outfitters Association of Alberta (PROAOA) and the Jasper National Park Professional River Outfitters Association (JNPPROA) created the Covid-19 Best Practices for Alberta Commercial River Outfitters.

The PROAOA guide registration and certification system provides member companies a means of certifying guides that meets industry standards and is recognized by Transport Canada.

SAFETY STANDARDS
Updated in 2019, the PROAOA Standards are in alignment with the Canadian Special-purpose Small Vessel Regulations, and other professional associations. Industry standards help minimize the risk of a commercial tour so a fun and safe experience can be enjoyed by all participants.
